You want to Start of by brushing your hair even before you get in the shower. Hair Brushing stimulates the Scalp and the circulation that can prevent hair breakage.
Before placing any Product on your hair please make sure its completely wet.
If your hair has the tendency to be Greasy......Condition first and then shampoo just the scalp!!! Not only will this create more volume it will also give you a chance to detangle the hair first. Its ok if the shampoo lather touches the mid length and ends just make sure and massage throughly at the scalp to stimulate the scalp.
Step one: Condition the hair and detangle. Rinse
Step two: Shampoo only the scalp and massage your scalp for a minute. rinse
Step three: rinse some more and style as desired.
If your hair is more on the dry side....Shampoo the hair first focusing on stimulating the scalp and completely rinse your hair. SQUEEZE....all the water out of your hair or towel dry before the next step. Instead of using regular conditioner try using a hair mask ( please refer to my previous post on hair-mask) and comb the hair with the product in it and leave on for 10 minutes!!! Add a shower cap to intensify. Rinse with cold water !
Step one: Shampoo the hair focusing on the scalp. Rinse.
Step two: Rinse. Towel dry
Step three: Apply desired Mask and completely de-tangle the hair and eave product for 10 minutes
Step 4: rinse and style as desired
Try this and Comment below on how your hair felt afterwards!!!!

More than often I get a full head of beautiful hair and then I realize I can't reccomend my favorite product due to scalp issues. Scalp issue are a lot more common than what people might think. At the end of the day I can recommend something that will help but a Dermatologist will fix the problem. Here are some tips.
Dandruff/Seborrheic Dermatitis: the most common one is flaking. For some people its all year long and for others its seasonal. "[Dandruff happens] when dead skin cells don’t exfoliate normally, and they build up on the scalp," So technically it can happen to anyone and most people experience atleast once in a lifetime. It can be caused by irritation to the scalp and even caused by a product you used or it can be a skin condition sometimes even the change in weather ( think of your skin and how it changes with the seasons)
“Sensitivity to ingredients in hair care products or hair dyes, especially paraphenylenediamine, can cause a red, itchy, scaly scalp. Washing too often with shampoos that contain harsh chemicals like sulfates or using too many styling products also may irritate your scalp, causing dandruff.”- DR. LIN, Dermatologist
Solution: anti-dandruff ingredients such as selenium, salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione, coal tar, or ketoconazole can help with this Problem. I also recommend tea tree oil I find it helps with a lot of scalp issues. Whatever you use let the scalp soak it for a few minutes don't just rinse it off. And if the problem persist go see a Dermatologist because they have oral medicine as well as prescription grade ointments that can help.
Hairloss: If I had a dollar everytime someone tells me that they are experiencing hair loss I would have enough to probably buy a Channel Purse. This I feel is the most common issue that needs a solution.
"Hair loss and thinning can occur in both men and women for a variety of reasons,” says Dr. Lin. “Men and women naturally produce a hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Some tend to produce excess DHT, which can cause hair to grow back thinner and more fragile." Other hair loss causes, he adds, "include iron-deficiency, auto-immune disease, low thyroid, and other hormonal imbalances.”
In most cases people suffer from "alopecia areata if you struggle with stress, if you have a family member with the condition, or if you suffer from an autoimmune disorder." I find that a lot of New mothers or people who are very stressed experience this and freak out. The good news is your hair will grow back.
"As for other hair loss causes, Dr. Lin says that blood tests can pinpoint the culprit. Once you know what the underlying issue is, you can get started on treating it. Dr. Lin recommends incorporating protein, fatty acids, and vitamins such as Biotin into your diet — but that’s just to start."
One thing I always recommend is that you buy oils for your scalp and do overnight treatments,
“revs up sluggish hair follicles with essential growth factors and cytokines, effectively addressing the root causes of hair loss and thinning. It works not only to prevent future hair loss, but to revitalize follicular activity that will restore a youthful head of hair.”
Ultimately the only real solution is a hair transplant. But I believe a good regime will help this issue. I always recommend Nixon as a start and then if my clients need something stronger I send them to a dermatologist. As well as a gentle hair and scalp regime in which you do not overexpose the hair to heat and harsh chemicals. Little changes like using a wet brush to detangle and not having your hair in a bun all the time can make big impacts.
I hope you enjoyed and learned something from this post. Please remember to share with friends and comment below if you have something you want me to talk about.
So you woke up and you want a change. Or better yet you went through a life changing experience and are ready to make some changes. Maybe you are just impulsive and enjoy changing it up…whatever the case have no fear the Hairtamer is here!!! Often times I blog about what to do after a color service so I wanted to take the time and blog about what to do before one.
1. Clarifying Shampoo will strip your hair of any color or product you might have. If you plan on going lighter this is a great tool to use to help remove product and build up from the hair. I advise using this in conjunction of a mask or deep condition treatment.
2. Deep Condition. No matter what type of hair you have deep conditioning leading to your color service will help your hair not only with the actual color service but it will also hold color a lot better.
3. Please don’t wash your hair on the day of service. Depending on the color service the color will have contact with your skin so having that extra buildup will help you during the service
4. Be upfront. Your hair history is very important so please share all your hair details during the consultation. That box you used 3 years ago, yes it still there.
5. Research. Look at photos of what you would like your hair to look like. Oftentimes I tell my clients to find a muse. A celebrity or public figure whose hair they admire. The more photos the better understanding our stylist will have of what you expect.
6. What if I hate it? If the damage is severe like your hair fell off or its orange or its breaking or it feels like hay you should really ask for a complementary re-do or a portion of the service to be reimbursed. If you just don’t like it because it’s shocking or not your personal style then you should seek another stylist.
At the end of the day BRING HEALTHY HAIR..The healthier the hair the more the stylist can do and the better the results. Also keep in mind sometimes it takes more than one booking to get what you want so be patient.
So your hair is thiner than usual or is it falling out..do you notice balding in your scalp? Lately I have been getting asked what to do in these scenarios. I am not a doctor nor do I think these are end all be all to your thin hair problems. What I am going to discuss below is simply some regimes I personally know of along with colleagues in the industry and have recommended and seen effective. The best place to go for severe thinning is to a nutritionist or a Dermatologist. That said here are some products and regime and what they can do for you.
Nioxin Three Set System
This Product line is older than me. Im not that old but it has been around for a while. I love it because it has a effective three step system that I know works due to my clients telling me they used it and loved it . Keep in mind thinning hair has everything to do with your scalp not your hair and is not to be mistaken with overly processed hair due to Color and Hot tools. They have diffrent numbers that indicate stages of thinning and if you color or don't color.
http://www.nioxin.com/en-EN/proven-solutions/products is a great resource to read more about it and see what is right for you.
Another tip is dry hair on Cold or Medium heat and minimize heat by utilizing Hot rollers or air drying when ever possible. Also if you must use hot tolls use the lower heat settings. Yes this take way longer but it will minimize heat exposure and help in the hair you do have being really healthy.
Green tea Shampoo
Green tea shampoo stimulates the scalp and clears it of sebum or any product residue left behind. I have seen this be effective in hair growth. Many times we think we washed our hair because it smells good but we neglect the scalp. Products often times create a barrier and clog the hair follicle. Think of it like a scalp facial. I find tea tree in any form rather it be organic in oil form or inside a shampoo to stimulate the scalp and induce hair growth
Please refer to my Vitamin Post Below
This if done regularly not only feels great but can also helps. Basically your scalp likes to be stimulated therefore if you do a scalp massage regularly you see results. I advise to use some type of product in correlation with this. Aloe vera, coconut oil, lemon Juice and Aloe Vera gel...ext. They have all kinds of oils that stimulate the scalp along with a scalp massage when done regularly will help you.
This seems to be a trend and apparently it works. I would read the article below for full disclosure but in the event it works please let me know thanks.
An active ingredient fund in most hair loss products that helps with hair loss. http://www.rogaine.com for women has actually made a product with is as its active ingredient along with rhttp://www.redken.com. so what it does is force the hair to go into anagen phase which is the growth phase and therefore it grows. Although it sounds promising I do recommend to use a shampoo to go along with it. Product will be more effective on a clean scalp.
Less Stress and a Healthy Diet
This by far is the most important component. In all the articles and research I read they stressed this the most. A proper diet and exercise can really make a difference in over all health so make sure this is up to par before you start trying out alternatives.
As mentioned before hair loss can stem from many things the most common being hormones I suggest if you have tried everything under the sun you go see a doctor and get to the route of the problem otherwise Let me know which of these was most effective and ill pass on the word to my divas.
As usual thank you for reading and please comment and share
Dilemma: My hair Falls Flat after its dry
Solution: Dry Shampoo
What does it do?
Spray on the Roots and brush it! Instant Volume
Dilemma: I need more body at my roots (think Bigger Hair)
Solution: Body Building Mouse
What it does?
Adds over all volume to your roots. Spray Quarter size in hand and apply on DAMP hair. Work it mainly at the roots and comb it through with your fingers. Make sure its evenly distributed to avoid your hair looking like it has mouse in it. And Viola ...Big hair!!!! I also love it when I want a Blowout to keep its waves!
Dilemma: I need more bounce in my curl
Solution: Curling Cream
What it does?
Unlike gel or mouse it doesn't flake or harden your curl. Instead it enhances it while still keeping its pattern. I love it because not only does it add volume but it also conditions. You should still use a leave in before you apply this though.
