Ingredients Defined Into English

Let me Start by saying I have a secret. My secret is that next to taming my other passion is science. If I wasn't a hairstylist and education was free and I didn't have student debt from My bachelors ........I would totally have a masters in Organic Chemistry. But the way my bank account and goals are set up ..... Anyways One day I will ..but for now I do my own studying and figure things out and share with my Divas.

Below I'm going to break down some of my Favorite ingriedients and not so favorite commonly found in hair products. Next time your hair product shopping make sure and read the list of ingredients.

HINT: the ones listed first are the most potent and the the ones listed last are the least.

  • Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii)
The high-quality oil is extracted from the nuts of the African Shea tree; the oil has a high vitamin E and carotene content. Shea butter makes even extremely unruly and stressed hair look smooth, silky and shiny

. I love this for thick hair and curly hair , I find that it make it be so soft and shiny.
  •  Silicone (e.g. Dimethicone)
Silicones are synthetic substances, which form a protective film around hairs and in this way make the hair cuticle appear smoother, make it easier to comb the hair and provide great lustre. They can also temporarily re-align split ends, thus helping to keep the problem in check

. Please pay attention..Temporary. I don't not like this ingredient but I want you to understand its a filer not a remedy. So if this is listed first in a product thats not a good sign. It will work for a bit but no longterm effects on the overall healthiness of your hair.
  • Wheat Protein (Hydrolysed Wheat Protein)
Wheat protein preparations are also rich in unsaturated fatty acids; the preparations make hair shinier and easier to manage; they also strengthen damaged hair. I love everything Protein due to the hair follicle being made up of proteins to begin with its a restorative product. As much as we take out I love to put in what I take out with all the chemicals.
  • Olive Oil (Olea europea)
This is linoleic acid-containing top quality oil; it makes hair smooth and shiny. Linoleic acid is known for its anti-inflammatory effect

. I love olive oil! When combined with other raw ingridients it gives that perfect consistency to penetrate.
  • Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis)
This is a relatively light oil for the intensive care of very stressed fine hair; almond oil does not weigh down the hair. All those that think fine hair doesn't need oils....you do!  This is the best one for you to have all the benefits of oil and not weigh the hair down.
  • Macadamia Oil (Macadamia ternifolia)
Macadamia oil is very rich and contains many natural lipids. It works well in cures for the repair of brittle and extremely damaged hair

. Unlike other oils that hydrate this is one of those that repair. If you have not tried this I say the time is now. I love it for all hair types because its not heavy at all.

  •    Caffeine increases the activity of the hair roots and may even promote hair growth. It is mostly used in products meant to prevent hair loss

. I love drinking coffee but for all of you suffering for hair loss did you know that you can use it to stimulate the scalp and promote hair growth?
  • Ceramide (Ceramide)
Ceramides are lipids; they fill gaps in the outer hair cuticle. When added to shampoo or rinses ceramides can repair hair breakage. This is another filler..If its listed as a first ingredient drop the product and move on. its not going to help you in long run.

I hope this helped, these are just a few of the most common ones but so many more exist. If you have any you want to share that you like please comment below I would love to hear about your favs and why.

Thank you for reading
xoxo Hairtamer
